Sound Footings
Last updated 16 August 2026
Right now Sound Footings is a waitlist and nothing more. The only personal data we hold is the email address you gave us, and the only thing we do with it is email you about Sound Footings. This notice explains that in full, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Sound Footings is a sole trader business, so one individual is the data controller for your email address. Sound Footings works from a home address and does not publish it; the controller's registered name and address are held on the Information Commissioner's public register and are given on request.
| Data controller | The sole trader trading as Sound Footings |
|---|---|
| Contact | team@soundfootings.co.uk |
| Registered details | On request, by email |
If Sound Footings later becomes a limited company, that company will take over as the data controller. We will email you when that happens rather than quietly changing this page — a change of controller is worth telling you about.
Only your email address, and only because you typed it into the waitlist form. We do not ask for your name, your address, your phone number or anything about your property.
Our host also records standard technical information when you load the page — your IP address, browser type and the time of the request — in its server logs. This is ordinary web-server logging used to keep the site running and to block abuse. We do not use it to identify you and we do not combine it with your email address.
| What | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | To email you about Sound Footings: waitlist updates, occasional guides, and a note when it is ready to use. | Consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) — you gave it by submitting the form, and you can withdraw it at any time. |
| Server log data | Keeping the site available and secure, and preventing spam submissions. | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — running a website securely. |
We will not use your address for anything else. We will not sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone for their own marketing. If we ever want to use it for a genuinely different purpose, we will ask you first.
The site is hosted by Netlify, and the waitlist form is Netlify's own forms feature — so your email address is stored on Netlify's systems and passed to us. Netlify acts as our processor: it handles the data on our instructions and may not use it for its own purposes, under a data processing agreement we hold on file.
That is the only third party involved. There is no analytics provider, no advertising network, no email marketing platform, and no AI service touching your data at this stage. If that changes, this notice changes first.
Netlify is based in the United States, so your email address is transferred outside the UK. That transfer is covered by Netlify's data processing agreement (version dated 9 June 2026), which provides two safeguards in order:
Netlify uses its own sub-processors to run its service; the current list is published at netlify.com/legal/subprocessors. We keep a copy of the signed agreement and will share the relevant parts on request, using the contact details above.
We keep your email address until one of these happens, whichever comes first:
If the project is abandoned, we delete the whole list. We will not quietly repurpose it for something else.
This site sets no cookies. It runs no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party scripts of any kind, which is why you have not been asked to accept anything. We do not know how many of you there are or where you came from, and for now we are content with that.
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
Email the address above and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first — it is usually the fastest way to fix it. You also have the right to complain directly to the UK's data protection regulator:

If we change how we use your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant — a new processor, a new purpose, or a change in who the controller is — we will email you rather than rely on you noticing.
